Perfect Party Cake

Currently I am at my aunt's house in Kulai, Johor. My family and I have been here since yesterday. And yesterday I spent the day by baking in my aunt's kitchen together with my sisters. Well, my aunt is a baker. She mostly bake traditional baked goods such as kuih talam and layer cakes. But her kitchen has everything you need to bake. The staple ones, of course.

So yesterday, right after we arrived my sisters and I straight away went into the kitchen. Before that we flicked through my recipe book and chose Katharine Hepburn's brownies. But guess what, the brownies did not taste like what it did before. I'm not sure whether it's because I put extra sugar (due to my excellent eyes, I misread the recipe) or because I've had so much helpers in the kitchen. Hehe.

On the 4th was my uncle and aunt's anniversary. We decided to make something for them and ended up making Dorie Greenspan's Perfect Party Cake without the buttercream frosting. We chose to frost the cake with cream cheese frosting.

The recipe for the cake can be found here and the recipe for frosting can be found here with a few adjustments where I added a few drops of food colouring into the mixture.
